Chorlton Masonic Lodge

A former Freemason's in Chorlton, with domestic accommodation above. In 1879, the Masonic Hall housed the Freemasons who had formerly rented accommodation in a village school room in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. The Freemasons used the building for nearly eighty years until 1958, when the High Lane Masonic Hall Co. entered voluntary liquidation.

In 2007, Caspian Construction submitted a planning application to partially demolish the existing building (the extensions that were added after the construction of the original building), to create 32 self-contained flats. The application aimed to retain the original central section of the building, and extending in 'a contemporary style' to accommodate the rest of the flats. However, five years on, the building and its extensions remain, slowly descending into ruins. The site is fenced off, but easily accessible and no obvious attempts have been made to prevent access or maintain the condition of the building.
