Levenshulme is a community. Not just a community of shopkeepers, many of whom don't even live in the area, but a community of people who care about more than their everyday profit, people who are actively trying to improve things for all of us.
I have discovered my final idea for this project - 'People who do good in Levenshulme'. A clunky title perhaps, but for me it sums up what I want to capture.
I recently joined a Facebook group called 'Levy Massive'. It consists of Levenshulme residents who help each other out with suggestions and recommendations, who warn of local crime, who advertise community events - it acts as a community noticeboard. It has alerted me to so many people 'doing good' in the area.
I have posted in the group, asking for suggestions for subjects and the response has been fantastic. I am now in touch with a number of groups and individuals in the area, and am arranging interviews and shoots with them.
