Dunlop launched a new subsidiary company in 1938, The Regent Tyre and Rubber Co. Ltd, enabling the company to retread tyres. From 1939 to 1945, Regent's profits grew substantially; in 1947, further expansion took place and a new factory was established in Manchester to take casings from the Briggs group of companies. In 1951, further Regent factories were opened in Glasgow and Bristol.
